Although every smell is technically our noses responding to chemicals, there are certain kinds of smell that get the label of "chemical". They are artificial smells, but more than mere grotesque distortions of natural smells, they are distinctive in their own right. The industrial area of the Primary Odors' world is where you'll find these fabricated fumes.
